The Valley of the Rulers is a gateway to heaven used by the new kings and queens of Egypt (1570-1070 BC). The valley is home to 63 tombs containing exquisite jewels, artifacts, sculptures, and décor, as well as the bones of pharaohs, including Ramesses II, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and Tutankhamun. UNESCO designated the Valley of the Kings as a World Heritage Site in 1979.

Hatshepsut Temple

The Temple of Hatshepsut is a vision from the sky known as Geser-Gesseru, “the Holy of Holies,” It signifies the idealism, charisma, and power of one of the most successful rulers of ancient Egypt, Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled in 1479 BC. It was dedicated to the creator god Amun and commemorated Hatshepsut’s formidable legacy. The temple’s stunning design is based on the classical New Kingdom architecture style.

Colossal of Memnon

The Colossi of Memnon are two vast slabs of quartzite sandstone, 18 meters (60 ft) high and weighing 720 tons each. They resemble Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386-1350) and traveled long distances from Cairo to Luxor to become its guards. This ancient city. Destroyed by an earthquake in 27 BC and rebuilt in 199 AD, this statue became famous throughout the Greco-Roman period due to the Vocal Memnon phenomenon.
